Prior to having any work performed, we advise you to follow these basic guidelines (especially on larger projects)

  • Ask for a written proposal prior to any work commencing.

  • Ask for proof of insurance and a copy of a current certificate of insurance.

  • Ask for a copy of trade licensed as required for the work to be performed. You can search with your local contractors licensing board

  • Ask for customer references from the contractor.

  • Never give money down

  • Always have your attorney review any contract prior to signing any contract (especially large contracts)

  • Ask for a completion date

  • Ask for a written guarantee

  • Ask for a manufacturer’s guarantee on any installed products/equipment etc.

  • Ask if the contactor is locally owned including their address

  • Ask for the company’s web site to review

  • Finally, you can never ask enough questions before signing any agreement.
